Massimo Marin

Massimo Marin received his artistic training at the Turin Conservatory, where he taught for 37 years, and had a brilliant career that led him to achieve important successes: 1st Prize at the Vittorio Veneto National Competition (1974); 2nd Prize at the “Romanini” International Competition in Brescia (1979), etc. He has performed in numerous countries around the world, boasting a notable solo and chamber music repertoire that includes composers from the 17th century to the present day as well as first performances of contemporary composers.

He was concertmaster of major Italian orchestras and was invited by Claudio Abbado to collaborate with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. In Turin, he founded the Somis Ensemble in 1986 and, in the 1990s, the Turin section of the "Soli Deo Gloria" Ensemble, dedicated to sacred music.

He has also produced a substantial recording output with major labels. He has also taught at important national educational institutions such as the Accademia della Scala, the Accademia Perosi in Biella, the Fiesole School of Music, and others.

You've always spoken of a musical family, made up of violinists from different generations. So today we're all a bit orphaned, even though each of us carries with us so many treasures you've passed on to us...On a blank sheet of paper, without squares, in a matter of minutes you wrote by hand the most precise program of the essay, with extraordinary calligraphy and the most beautiful sense of proportion, an exemplary image of purity in complexity. We will all bear the signature of this Font Marin. Thank you Massimo, have a good trip wherever this last train takes you.
