STUDENT COMPETITION

A competition in which participation will be encouraged, even from very young students (from 2 years old) and those with disabilities, without separate categories.

5 Sections divided by technical level based on the program presented (with a compulsory piece chosen from the 3 proposed for each section) starting from Section 1, dedicated to absolute beginners (open string pieces also suitable for those who have been studying for a few months) up to Section 5 (example of repertoire: Bach Concerto in A minor, Paganini Cantabile) and also divided by age categories:

REGISTRATION

1) Choose a compulsory piece from those proposed in ALL sections

2) That song will determine your section

3) In addition to the compulsory piece, if you want you can also choose a free program to extend/complete the playing time.

4) Sign up for a section and an age category (age as of 19/2/2026)

SECTIONS

SECTION 1 – one of the following three choices:

1) An open string piece OR Suzuki Vol.1 Twinkle Twinkle Little Star – Theme

2) Suzuki Vol.1 Allegro

3) ABRSM Grade 1 An Coineachan (Scottish Trans)

+ Optional program of your choice with a maximum duration of 3 minutes

SECTION 2 – one of the following three choices:

1) Suzuki Vol.1 Bach a Minuet between nos. 1,2,3

2) Colledge Morris Dancers from Shooting Stars

3) ABRMS Grade 1 – Sancho The Sword Knott

+ Optional program of your choice with a maximum duration of 4 minutes

SECTION 3 – one of the following three choices:

1) Suzuki Vol. 3 Dvorak Humoresque

2) Bach Gavotte in G Minor

3) ABRSM Grade 3 – Baklanova Reigen

+ Optional program of your choice with a maximum duration of 5 minutes

SECTION 4 – one of the following three choices:

1) Vivaldi Concerto in A minor op. 3 no. 6 first movement (Estro Armonico)

2) Seitz Concerto No. 5 first movement (Suzuki Vol.4)

3) ABRSM Grade 4 – Veracini Vivace

+ Optional program of your choice with a maximum duration of 5 minutes

SECTION 5 – one of the following two choices:

1) Paganini Cantabile in D major

2) Bach Concerto in A minor – first movement

+ Optional program of your choice with a maximum duration of 7 minutes

The category will be chosen based on the candidate's age as of February 19, 2026.

SSections and Categories will be intersected and the auditions will be held divided by Section: e.g. Section 1 category A,B,C,D,E – Section 2 category A,B,C,D,E and so on

2) THE FIRST MOVEMENT OF A CONCERTO BY MOZART OR HAYDN

3) A STUDIO OF YOUR CHOICE AMONG THOSE BY RODE, DONT, GAVINIES, WIENIAWSKI,

VIEUXTEMPS OR A CAPRICCIO BY PAGANINI

FINAL TEST:

1) THE FIRST MOVEMENT OF A CONCERTO FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA

2) A COMPOSITION OF YOUR CHOICE, WITH A MAXIMUM DURATION OF 20′

1) A WORK FROM A BACH SONATA OR PARTITA
2) THE FIRST MOVEMENT OF A MOZART CONCERTO

Each Section will have an Overall Winner who will receive a cup and prizes in musical material at the discretion of the jury.

TheThe overall winner of all sections will receive a cup, a 1000 Euro scholarship and a study violin.



The candidates with the 3 highest scores in each section will also receive prizes in musical materials (strings, rosin, cases, bows, books, scores, etc.) at the discretion of the jury.



The first, second, third and fourth place winners will receive a medal and a certificate

Candidates with a score lower than 80/100 will receive a certificate of participation

The online competition is reserved for candidates located at least 500 km away from the competition venue. The competition is divided into the same sections and categories as the student competition. The online competition will have its own prizes and results, which will be announced in March 2026.

REQUIREMENTS

EACH CANDIDATE MUST SEND A VIDEO OF THEIR PERFORMANCE, OF A SONG OF THEIR CHOICE AND OF A MANDATORY SONG FROM THOSE IN THEIR SECTION, WITH THE PRIVACY SETTING UNLISTED OR PUBLIC. THE VIDEO MUST BE NAMED “MASSIMO MARIN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION – NAME SURNAME – CATEGORY AND SECTION”, AND MUST INCLUDE THE TITLES OF THE SONG AND THE NAMES OF THE AUTHORS IN THE DESCRIPTION.

THE CANDIDATE MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE AND MUST PLAY WITH ACCOMPANIMENT, EVEN ON A RECORDED BASIS

ALL VIDEOS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY MARCH 1, 2026

CANDIDATES WILL RECEIVE A VOTE OF ONE HUNDRED (SEE ABOVE)

EACH CANDIDATE WILL RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE AS A PRIZE

The first place finisher in all categories will be awarded a scholarship worth 500 euros.

THE JURY WILL ALSO AWARD A SPECIAL MASSIMO MARIN “ONLINE” PRIZE, CONSISTING OF A CERTIFICATE OF MERIT, TO THE CANDIDATE WHO HAS DEMONSTRATED THE MOST INTERESTING MUSICAL PERSONALITY.
